Research Associate Position, Dynamics of Organic Pollutants (6 years)

The Department of Environmental Geosciences, Faculty of Geosciences, Geography and Astronomy offer a fulltime 6 years research associate position to be filled as soon as possible.

We would like to employ a scientist with a research focus in the field organic pollutants (working group Prof. Hofmann, The applicant has his/her research focus within the scope of process understanding, modelling, and/or dynamics of organic pollutants in soil/groundwater systems. His/her expertise is documented by a good publication record in international journals. A clear and innovative research perspective, acquisition of project funding, and the knowledge of quantitative laboratory research methods is expected. Profound knowledge in chemical analysis of organic pollutants is beneficial. The ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and excellent (English) written and oral communication skills are a prerequisite.

Cooperation with the working group Natural Colloids and Nanotechnology at our Department are emphasised. Apart from our comprehensively equipped laboratories (ASE, 2 GC-MS, 2 HPLC, sample preparation, inorganic analysis, and colloid analysis) and an extremely potent research environment due to co-operations with other Departments, additional field or laboratory equipment can be negotiated as a start up fund. Gross salary including 4 h/week teaching is € 52,500 (approx. US $ 67,000) year including health care and social security.
